In the remote area of Mozambique Inhambane lies the tropical Guinjata Bay
Guinjata Bay is a small bay located in the Jangamo district of Inhambane Province in Mozambique, the bay is located South of the city of Inhambane and is approximately 530km to the North of the Mozambican capital city of Maputo. Although the main road between Maputo and Inhambane is tarred, the final 25km from the turn off is dirt road with the last few kilometers only being accessible with a 4×4 vehicle, although it is possible for a 4×2 vehicle with differential lock to make it is not recommended.
Praia de Jangamo is one of the few undiscovered treasures of the world. The bay is virtually untouched, with extensive beaches on every doorstep and uncrowded restaurants, there is just the right amount of development around to make you comfortable, but leaving you feeling like you have the whole place to yourselves.
You’re guaranteed to have the time of your life here. Guinjata is a popular holiday destination, with large influx of South Africans in the month of December. The bay is largely popular due to the clean water, excellent fishing and pristine diving sites. Guinjata bay is also a popular destination to view Humpback whales either by boat or from the panormaic views of the bay itself.
